Philly Featured: Alexa Leviten
Meet Alexa Leviten, a Temple University Social Work student, content creator, and photographer making an impact in Philadelphia.
Alexa Leviten was referred to me through a connection, and once I looked into what she’s building, I knew she’d be a great fit for Philly Featured. She’s a student at Temple University juggling a social work degree, brand partnerships, and a growing content creation career.
Purpose-Driven Work on Every Front
Alexa is finishing up her degree in Social Work at Temple, with plans to head to Rutgers for her MSW. She’s also a photographer and social media content creator — which (honestly) made me a little nervous to be the one behind the camera for once.
She’s intentional about the brands she works with. She partnered with Uber on a campus safety initiative where she hosted an event giving away free ride vouchers to students, and with Cora, a brand focused on combating period poverty through organic products and nonprofit partnerships. She recently landed a UGC gig with Pacifica Beauty, a vegan and cruelty-free makeup company, and she’s photographing a benefit gala for Camp Kesem at Temple for the second year.
What ties it all together is her mindset: earn income from your passions while doing meaningful work as your career. She currently works as a behavioral health technician in schools, where she sees firsthand how trauma and development show up in young people’s lives. The goal (as she puts it) isn’t to fully change someone’s circumstance, but to be there for someone and help them find their own drive for change.
Why Philadelphia
Alexa loves Philly for the reasons a lot of us do — the sports, the food, the endless activities. What stood out was her involvement with the Phambassador program, which launched in 2025. The program recruits Philadelphians to be the city’s welcoming committee, signing a pledge to be good neighbors to visitors and fellow residents. Now that it’s hit over 10,000 signatures, it’s shifted toward hosting events where Phambassadors connect and brainstorm ways to get more people involved.
She describes Philly honestly — the city has room for improvement, but she loves it for all its quirks. After four years here, she hopes to come back one day to contribute even more.
What’s Next
Alexa’s heading back to New Jersey for graduate school at Rutgers, but she’s far from slowing down. She’s building her freelance content creation work and continuing to align her brand with companies that share her values around sustainability and positive impact.
